Summer 2024

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

We are excited to launch this first edition of the Natural Food Co-op newsletter! Building community is at the heart of the Co-op, and the intent of this and future newsletters is to share brief updates with our valued community regarding Co-op news, activities, and events.

New Face at the Co-op

Meet Anne Semrau, our newest Co-op volunteer! Anne recently moved to Chadron to accept a position in the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences at Chadron State College. We are so glad to have her join our Chadron community and delighted she is volunteering at the Co-op. A warm welcome to you, Anne!

Farewell, Ron…

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the recent passing of Natural Food Co-op founder Dr. Ron Miller. In 1976, Ron started the Co-op as a Chadron State College sociology class project. Ron shared details of this story in The History of the Natural Food Co-op. We are so grateful for the amazing legacy he left for the Chadron community. See Ron’s obituary for more about his full, remarkable life and for plans regarding his celebration of life.

Need Some Energy?

These six ingredient dark chocolate hemp energy bites are a delicious, protein-packed snack to energize you any time of day.

All ingredients (dates, walnuts, almond butter, hemp seeds, cacao powder, and coconut oil) are available at the Co-op.

YUM! YUM!

Hurray for the Co-op!

We are honored, proud and elated to have been recognized by the Chadron Chamber of Commerce as the Small Business of The Year! Presenting this award, the CCC noted our

“unwavering dedication to promoting healthy living and sustainability” adding that the Co-op has “consistently provided the community with access to local, high-quality, organic products, fostering a culture of health and well-being.” The CCC acknowledged that our “commitment to supporting local producers highlights (the Co-op’s) role as a cornerstone of our community's economy and health.”

Sincere thanks to the Chadron Chamber of Commerce for this recognition, to volunteer Kyanna Fisher for accepting the award on behalf of the Co-op, and to our entire community for supporting the Co-op!
